Nahavand and Hosseinabad rugs are traditionally hand-knotted by nomadic tribes living around the city of Hamadan. These rugs are commonly traded in Hamadan, an important centre of Persian rug making. They are usually known for their strong, intense colours, but this older piece has naturally faded over time. Its softened shades create a subtle pastel appearance and give the rug a distinctive antique character.
