Afghan Ziegler patchwork-pattern handmade wool rugs draw inspiration from the classic Ziegler tradition developed by the British-Swiss company Ziegler & Co. Production originally began in Iran’s Arak region during the 1870s. These rugs are known for their soft colours and simple yet striking patterns, which suit both modern and traditional interiors. Contemporary versions are handmade in Afghanistan and are often called Chobi rugs. The word “Chobi” refers to wood and highlights the natural, earthy shades traditionally created with vegetable dyes. The patchwork-inspired design adds a distinctive and decorative character to the rug.
