HERE, EVERY CUSTOMER IS A GUEST
The success story of Kabiri Carpet on Krisztina körút began many years ago. For 20 years, the shop has delighted both loyal visitors and newcomers.
The staff deliberately avoid calling those who enter “customers”. Instead, they welcome them as guests. Over a cup of coffee or tea, they present thousands of hand-knotted rugs in a wide range of sizes.
THE RUGS HAVE ALSO APPEARED IN FILMS
Over the past two decades, many well-known public figures and institutions have chosen Kabiri Carpet. These include Jenő Csiszár, Olivér Nacsa, Korda Film Studios and Müpa Budapest, owner Jamal Abdul Naser explained.
The organisations did not buy the rugs permanently. They rented them, as Kabiri Carpet also offers a rental service.
“At Kabiri Carpet, customers can do much more than purchase rugs. We also offer cleaning, fringe repair, restoration and professional advice,” Jamal said.
Customers who cannot decide in the shop can request home delivery of two or three rugs. This allows them to see which piece best suits their home or office. They then keep the rug they like most. Few shops offer such a personalised service.
“People do not only buy rugs for their homes. One of our clients, a lawyer, chose one of our rugs to make his office feel warmer and more welcoming for visitors,” the director explained.
THE WORK OF DILIGENT WOMEN
Craftswomen still knot oriental rugs entirely by hand. A rug measuring 126 × 166 centimetres can take more than three months to complete.
Jamal personally selects every rug for the shop. He travels to countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan to inspect the quality himself. The collection also includes Iranian and Turkmen masterpieces.
“We offer our rugs at affordable prices. We also serve customers who prefer lower-priced, machine-made pieces. At the moment, every rug is available at half price,” Jamal said.
Kabiri Ltd. has operated successfully since 1995. Its motto speaks for itself: Prices fall, value remains.
Magic carpets may exist only in fairy tales, but the choice of more than 10,000 rugs in Jamal’s Budapest shop is very real.
The manager always puts the customer first. He is even open to bargaining. At the shop at 11 Krisztina Boulevard, customers can negotiate the price and take home a unique piece for much less.
No two rugs are exactly alike. You will never find an identical copy of your rug anywhere else.
